Absinth random talk

Looks like in Switzerland, Absinth is getting legal again ! Gosh I heard the news last night, and I got so enthralled that I nearly forgot the bath I was having running in the tub. I mean…

Absinth !!!

ABSINTH !!!!

The mythical beverage, which accompanied so many writers and poets to their doom… Baudelaire, Verlaine, Modigliani, Toulouse-Lautrec…..

to tell you the truth, honey, i never tasted any....

I know it's a beverage (kinda strong, 55%alcohol ) made of a plant, called absinth, and that artist believed it has the effect of a drug, that it could enhance their creativity... Some ppeople got sick, even died of drinking absinth, and the drink was prohibited in the beginning of the years 1900..

but it has been proved that people got sick because of the bad quality alcohol some people used to produe absinth...

and now, the production has been authorized again in switzerland !!

I hope we can get some here soon, and tht i can finally have a taste of that mythical drink ^^ :bunspark: (yeah, most of me fav authors used to live surrounded by absinth, hence my being happy as a hippo !!!!!

only take a small dosage ne? Since it's 50+% alcohol you only need a small amount :) We'll have some wine instead if you cannot get one of those ^^

I have some green venom in my apartment, ;-), the mythical Absinthe, a large art-deco stylish bottle and a smaller one full of herbs. I bought it once in Czechoslowakia (think in Portugal and even in Belgium now it's legal too) I warn you, when you don't drink it the caramelized way (you should saturate some sugar with Absinthe, caramalize it by heating up and then mix it with the alcohol) the taste is pretty ugly. And i haven't cut off my ear yet (remember Vincent Van Gogh), :-).

hehe, so far the only absinth i posess is happily growing in my garden... ^^

caramelized? is this when you see people put sugar on a little plate above the absinth glass, then slowly puring what i guess is water??

anyway, as far as i can lay my greedy hands on that precious nectar, i won't fail to ask you the best modus operandi to finally grab a taste of it ..^^

legalized in belgium too? hmmm in specialized liquor shops i guess, then?
